Spore: A Refreshing Game... Finally
You might not have heard of Spore, but for me it is the most anticipated game in my 25 years of living. As a child, computer games where just coming into
existence and every one I played was new and exciting. Unfortunately as gaming became more popular, games simply started to become shinier version of things
I've seen before. The 'new' FPS game was slightly better then the previous one and this 'new' RTS game had better AI and so forth. I started to become jaded
by the big game companies just pumping out game after game with no real effort to bring gamers something new. Untill Will Wright (the creator of Sim City and
The Sims 1 and 2) started a revolutionary game called Spore.
Following Taken From : TotalSpore.com
"Spore will be a Sim-everything. You will be able to create and evolve a creature from the cells up.
You’ll control and evolve your creature as he mophs from a single-celled organism until his species is conquering the galaxy. Will describes the game as a
massively single-player game: while the gameplay is all single player, the content in your world is asychronously pulled from other user’s machines. This
means that everything you see in the game is actually created by other players. While playing Spore, you will go through six different stages of gameplay that
dictacte your specific goals for the stage of game you’re playing. Throughout these stages, you will use associated editor to create the content you see in the
game. The gaming engine will use procedural generation to bring life into the creatures and objects you create."
I encourage you to Google Spore and find out more. The official release date is September 07, 2008. It is so far away I can't wait.
